(Nederlands Genootschap van Tolken en Vertalers – NGTV)

Peter Meeuse is a member of the Netherlands Association of Interpreters and Translators (NGTV). This is an organized interest group of 1,500 professional interpreters and translators in the Netherlands.

As an NGTV translator he adheres to the following code of honour:

1. He places all his knowledge and capability at the service of his principal in the execution of each commission, in full awareness of the responsibility that his task as translator or interpreter lays upon him.

2. He accepts only commissions which are within his sphere of knowledge and capability.

3. By means of relevant permanent education he ensures that he maintains his level of knowledge and capability, keeping abreast of new developments in his own fields.

4. On the basis of the confidential nature of his commissions, and the responsibility inherent in the service he provides, he conducts himself in an appropriate manner.

5. He signs the completed translation with his name and signature, thus indicating that he bears full responsibility for it.

6. He only puts his name to documents that he has himself translated.

7. He observes full confidentiality with respect to that which comes to his knowledge in – or as a result of – his capacity as translator or interpreter.

8. He refrains from taking advantage – himself or on behalf of third parties – of any knowledge he may gain from, or as a result of, the execution of his function as translator or interpreter.

9. He refrains from undertaking any unworthy form of advertising or competition.

10. In the case of translation or interpreting assignments executed as sub-contractor, he abstains from entering directly into contact with the principal.
